Don’t worry ChatGPT (probably) won’t be stealing your job anytime soon

So, if you don’t know what ChatGPT is, where have you been? In the last few weeks, it has been everywhere with people sharing screenshots of responses on Twitter, TikTok, Reddit, etc…

ChatGPT is one of the newest toys released by the OpenAI Group, it is a conversational tool where you give the AI prompt and it responds with a written reply.

Overall it is bloody fantastic!

So why won’t it be stealing your job?
Well, let’s just say it still needs some sharpening around the edges.

Along with the fact :

  1. It is only a tool to generate human-like text based on the datasets it has been trained on. So can’t perform tasks or replace human expertise (in most instances).
  2. Said datasets have a cut-off date, so any new information wouldn’t be contained within the dataset.
  3. Unable to expand on knowledge by not having access to external sources or the internet.
  4. Unlike machine learning models, it doesn’t adapt and learn in the same way. Therefore wouldn’t be able to pass the Turing Test.

Now, let’s see why it won’t steal your job yet, and why it’s been fun to play with…

So, I asked ChatGPT if a credit card number is valid. And was instantly told off… Good bot I guess.

But, can I bypass this? The Checksum used to determine if a card number is valid is something called “Luhn’s Algorithm

And for more laughs.

At least it apologised.

Try again?

Okay let’s correct them.

And now??

*Sarcastic clap*
